First shown as a prologue to the MTV Asia Music Awards in Bangkok in May, Codehunters tells the story of Lhek, a crumbling city in the near future ruled by the merciless tyrant Khann. Four iconic hero characters, Shen, Lawan, Zom and Nhi, join forces to battle corrupt gangs, dirty cops, and rampaging monsters to overthrow the evil Khann, and along the way encounter the mysterious figure Krai.

Notes:

Every project poses an unique challenge and this one was no different. Tasked with both the music and sound design (always a good thing in my book!), director Ben Hibon urged me to keep things simple and direct, and not go overboard on the music with my usual high level of detail.

Since the animation needed to have a universal appeal, no spoken voice was used and all the character's uttering's had to be vocalised using grunts and moans. The result is an explosive manga-esque piece that has garnered many media awards and resulted in a Yellow Pencil Award for outstanding achievement in the audio department.
